BACKUP POWER THAT FITS YOUR LIFE

A local Generac dealer for your home or acreage

When your power stops, the inconvenience can go well beyond the lights. Your furnace needs electricity to circulate heat. An acreage well needs power to bring water into the house. Refrigerators, freezers, sump pumps, and home offices all depend on a working electrical supply.

We start with what matters to you. Tell us what you want to keep running, what equipment you may add later, and how you use the property. We assess the electrical demand and explain the options before recommending a generator.

Krimp has worked across the Foothills since 2013. You get local advice, a clear scope of work, and a plan suited to the property.

Whole-home or essential-circuit backup?

Keep your priorities powered

An essential-circuit system focuses on selected loads, such as the furnace, fridge, freezer, well pump, sump pump, and a few lights and receptacles. It can be a practical choice when you want dependable backup for the necessities.

Plan for broader home coverage

A whole-home approach can cover more of your electrical system. The generator still needs to be sized for the actual demand. Larger loads may need load management so everything does not start or run at the same time.

An EV charger, electric heat, hot tub, or workshop can change the calculation. We will explain which loads your proposed system can support and any limits you should expect during an outage.

AUTOMATIC STANDBY POWER

How a Generac standby generator works

A permanently installed standby system pairs the outdoor generator with an automatic transfer switch. When utility power fails, the system starts the generator and transfers the backed-up circuits to generator power. When utility power returns, it transfers them back.

Home standby models use natural gas or liquid propane, depending on the equipment and available fuel supply. The right fuel arrangement is part of the installation plan.

There is a short interruption while the generator starts and the transfer takes place. A standby generator is not a substitute for a UPS where uninterrupted power is required.

Generator installation, planned from the start

01

Site visit & load assessment

We review your panel, the equipment you want backed up, motor starting loads, possible generator locations, and fuel availability. Acreage runs and detached buildings are part of the conversation.

02

Equipment selection & clear quote

We outline the proposed generator, transfer equipment, electrical work, and any load management. The quote identifies site preparation, fuel work, permits, and other project requirements so the responsibilities are clear.

03

Installation & coordination

We plan the electrical installation and coordinate required work with the appropriate trades. Generator placement, fuel connections, permits, and inspections must suit the selected equipment and local requirements.

04

Testing & owner walkthrough

The installation includes checking the system operation and explaining the backed-up loads, controls, and maintenance requirements. You should know what to expect before the next outage.

Backup power for Foothills acreages

A rural property can have very different needs from an in-town home. Well pumps, water systems, detached shops, and long electrical runs all affect the backup plan. We assess the property as a system so the generator supports the loads you actually need.

We serve Okotoks, Diamond Valley, High River, Millarville, Bragg Creek, Priddis, De Winton, and surrounding Foothills County, with Calgary projects considered by location and scope.

Generac generator installation FAQs

Is Krimp Electric a Generac dealer?

Yes. Krimp Electric is a Generac dealer based in Diamond Valley, serving Okotoks and the surrounding Foothills. Contact us to discuss a standby generator for your home or acreage.

What size generator do I need?

That depends on the equipment you want to run, its starting demand, and which loads may run together. Floor area or panel size alone will not give you the answer. We assess your loads and discuss essential-circuit and whole-home options.

How much does installation cost?

The total depends on the generator and transfer equipment, electrical and fuel connection distances, site preparation, permit requirements, and any upgrades. Request a site-specific quote that separates equipment and installation scope.

Can a generator run my well pump and furnace?

These are common backup priorities. We check the pump and furnace electrical requirements, including starting demand, before confirming that the selected system can support them.

Do I need natural gas at the property?

Not necessarily. Liquid propane may be an option where natural gas is unavailable. Equipment compatibility, tank capacity, fuel delivery, and connection requirements need to be assessed for your site.

Will it work during an Alberta winter?

The equipment and installation need to suit the site's operating conditions. We review cold-weather requirements for the selected model, along with snow clearance, access, and the manufacturer's maintenance guidance.

What maintenance does a standby generator need?

Follow the selected model's maintenance schedule and operating instructions. Regular checks and service are part of generator ownership, especially after extended use. Ask us about maintenance requirements and available support when planning your installation.

Our Customers

I am very pleased with the speed and expertise of the Krimp Electric team who installed our fluorescent lights and replace/fixed a dual light switch that had been damaged. This was our second experience with Krimp Electric. Both were an excellent service.
